On January 18, 2024, nearly 17 years since the group was active, Tsunku announced an audition, called Reiwa no Gyaruru (Kari), with the intention of reviving the group with a new incarnation for the Reiwa era.[2] After six months of screening, the new members were selected from thirteen final candidates[3], and the group was re-named to Chou Gyaruru.

Member Stage Names[]
The group's name "Gyaruru" is based on the Japanese word 'Gyaru', a transliteration of the English word 'gal'. When the group was revived in 2024, they followed the same name pattern as the original Gyaruru for the new members: Kono Rio became Rioo, Adachi Reina became Adada, Kimura Yumi became Yumimi, Ishii Kokone became Konene, Ikuta Komomo became Komomo, Toyama Himeka became Himeme, Kouchi Rise became Risese, and Tomori Kaho became Kahoho.
